Course Overview
Learn the concepts, technologies, components and protocols inherent in today's local area networking environments. See how computers are connected together to form peer-to-peer and server-based networks. Discover the functionality and uses of a router, bridge, switch, hub and repeater. The two most commonly used network operating systems today, Microsoft's NT and Novell's NetWare, are introduced in this course. VLANs and the various forms of Ethernet technology, such as Fast Ethernet, are also explained. |

Prerequisites
The Introduction to Networking Course (WB16.1) is the prerequisite for this course. Basic computer skills are also required. This includes an understanding of PC and/or MAC operating systems and the ability to use applications such as word processing, Internet browsers and email software. |
